Chivalry? Posted By: Anon Category:
FIGHT DETAIL
Are you for or against Chivalry? When does it start to become ridiculous? Opening the car door, pulling out a chair at the dinner table for your date, that's probably fine. What about:
- Walking on the outside of the sidewalk to 'guard' from incoming cars that might be jumping the curb?
- Sitting facing the entrance of a restaurant to be on the lookout for people entering?
I'm all for it, but it seems that some of these notions are antiquated and don't make much sense anymore. Thoughts?

Chivalry and considerate behaviour are never out of style Posted By: Expat
Explain My Vote
I think he's just being polite. Unless you're feeling threatened by more possessive behaviour, just appreciate it.
I for one can't bear the thought of my daughter, who, let's be honest, is three, walking closer to traffic than I do. I walk on the traffic side when I'm with my fifteen year old son, too.
It's just a protective, considerate thing.

I open the doors for girls, even friends who enter my car. If a girl opens it herself. That's cool...same for buildings, food places, etc...
